  • WELCOME!

My philosophy of "Life, Laughter, and Love" was inspired by my wife when she had it engraved in my wedding ring, always there to remind me what's important. It's also what guides me to capture what I do, when I have a camera in my hand.

Friends will ask me if I consider it work, but I ask, how can it be? When I am blessed to be able to share such wonderful moments in peoples lives, to be shared forever, I can't call it work, but I can tell you it's the best job in the world. And I would love to share it with you!

Lindsay and Nick enjoyed their wedding day to the fullest, surrounded by friends and family, and MAN did we have a blast! Starting the day at the ALWAYS beautiful Royal Park Hotel, we had their “first look” in a private area so we could enjoy the photos with the wedding party early in the day. I was most impressed when Lindsay showed what a trooper she was by slogging through the wet Miller’s Big Red Apple Orchard in her dress to get some gorgeous photos with her even MORE gorgeous wedding party and took it all in stride, despite her heels sinking repeatedly in the mud!

Finally we arrived at Addison Oaks for the rest of the night, for a little “groomsmen football” in the parking lot, and some manly cigars later in the night. It was wonderful to be a part of their heart-filled day, and I feel the photos truly show this! Jill and Mike are one VERY cool couple, and their wedding was exactly how I thought it would be – full of fun, family, and fantastic people surrounding the happy couple, celebrating at the lovely Addison Oaks!

I was grateful to get to know two wonderful people such as Jill and Mike, and felt honoured to have been a part of their wonderful night.

Theresa and Michael are two ridiculously beautiful people. So admittedly, it wasn’t THAT hard to photograph them on their wedding day, since beautiful people surround themselves with MORE beautiful people right? I just had no idea how much fun we were all going to have until I met everyone on the day of the wedding – and boy did we ever! After the ceremony, we spent a short while at Van Hoosen Farms in Rochester Michigan, and then travelled a good hour so the bride and groom could pay a special surprise visit to their grandmother, who had just been hospitalized and couldn’t make the wedding – possibly the most heartwarming moment of the day watching her smile at the happy couple! Then it was off to the always beautiful Rooster Tail to party into the night along the riverfront!
Wish the happy couple a HUGE congratulations, and don’t forget to hit ‘like’ on the FB page at http://www.facebook.com/derekcooksonphotography  so you can leave them comments and tag your friends!

Christen and Andrew got married in a beautiful ceremony…..and then we got to the reception! To say the Reception at the Meadowbrook Country Club was beautiful is an understatement. Having it outside turned out to be SUCH a magnificent choice, and the night couldn’t have been more fun. You can tell these two love each other every time they look into the other’s eyes, and I couldn’t wish them a bigger congratulations!

Kristin and Tom got married! There are weddings when everyone has fun, and there are weddings where everyone has FUN. This wedding was such a blast, not only because of the AMAZING people at it, but how you could tell how much Kristin and Tom were loved by every single one of them! And the reception, being at Tina’s Country House in Macomb , MI was such a nice place for it to all happen!

Wish the happy newlyweds a BIG CONGRATULATIONS, and don’t forget to hit ‘like’ on the FB page at http://www.facebook.com/derekcooksonphotography  so you can leave them comments!
