  • WELCOME!

My philosophy of "Life, Laughter, and Love" was inspired by my wife when she had it engraved in my wedding ring, always there to remind me what's important. It's also what guides me to capture what I do, when I have a camera in my hand.

Friends will ask me if I consider it work, but I ask, how can it be? When I am blessed to be able to share such wonderful moments in peoples lives, to be shared forever, I can't call it work, but I can tell you it's the best job in the world. And I would love to share it with you!

My first trip to the Yates Cider Mill this year was fun, with 3 beautiful kids keeping us all on our toes, with the sweet promise of cider and doughnuts to keep them smiling. Ok, MAYBE their parents had something to do with that too, but we know kids, it’s doughnuts all the way! (I then promptly spent $25 in the store myself on doughnuts and cider as gifts for people, so it’s not just kids!)

Devon and Jordan had one HECK of a party in Ann Arbor for their wedding, and I was SO glad to be along for the ride!

I was literally EXCITED to shoot inside the beautiful Michigan Theatre in downtown Ann Arbor, and the reception at Weber’s Inn Ann Arbor was elegant and full of so much energy, you couldn’t help but fall in love! From a Party-Bus full of photos I can’t show on here, to poking some Wolverines fans the wrong way at The Big House, this was a crazy fun day, and I couldn’t wish them a bigger congratulations!

Jessica and Ryan were a BLAST to hang out with on their wedding day! Not only did they have a beautiful place to get married (one of my favs, Addison Oaks in beautiful Romeo Michigan!) but there was a wonderful sense of joy in the air among family and friends alike. In the end, two friends in love got married….and then hopped in a fountain at midnight. Haha!

When I first talked about Nadine on her engagement post, I mentioned how much of a fantastic dancer she was….on her wedding night, she showed everyone just how much a beautiful bride can dance, and her groom Mike proved he could keep up with her for sure! I say, if you don’t end your wedding soaked in sweat, you just didn’t have as much fun as these two! 🙂

From the relaxing start at Salon 9 in Sterling Heights, to the beautiful National Shrine of the Little Flower, everyone was relaxed, smiling, and ready to party, refusing to let the rain outside wash away the fun and love of Nadine and Mike that day. Settling in at the Club Venetian in Madison Heights, the music kept everyone going, and Nadine and Mike never stopped smiling. It was a great day to get married, and I couldn’t wish these two a bigger congratulations – and I hope you leave them a comment to say the same! I just won an AWESOME contest and prize package from fstoppers.com, one of my favourite creative sites I read almost daily, and hope to contribute to as well someday. (and I’m NOT just saying this because I won something!)

So in case you followed the link on their page to my blog, welcome! And since I won and am excited, and it’s 11pm, I am taking a quick webcam grab for a victory lap, so celebrate with me! Give up an Internet High Five!

Ok, that was fun. NOW GET BACK TO WORK!

Jessica and Ryan are a load of fun to hang out with…just look at the photos we did, all on the front lawn of the DIA for proof! It was in the middle of a rainy Sunday morning, and we had plans to hit a few places, but after an hour of laughs and smiles, we were happy and didn’t even feel the need to go anywhere else! (I think their mouths were tired of smiling so much! haha)

They’re such a great combination of personalities, but I think you can see here, that it’s a blend that works well! It goes to show, does it matter WHERE photos are taken, if you have some fun people in love to photograph?

Hit ‘LIKE’ and tell them a HUGE congratulations on their upcoming wedding over on the facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/derekcooksonphotography !
